Satoru Gojo has found a place in the minds and hearts of many fans. But today, instead of celebrating Gojo's power, we're looking for characters who could defeat him (or at least hurt him).
But what makes Gojo so impressive?
What Makes Gojo Special?
Those eyes... those damned eyes... Gojo possesses the “Six Eyes,” a hereditary trait that gives him greater control over his cursed energy, making all his techniques more powerful.
However, the biggest issue is not this. Gojo also has the “Infinity” or “Mugen,” a passive application of his “Limitless” technique. Mugen makes Satoru virtually invincible, rendering him immune to almost any physical attack.

So, we'll focus on characters who, at least, have a way to deal with our white-haired hero's defenses.
10 Characters Capable of Defeating Satoru Gojo
It's important to note that most people on this list probably wouldn't actually beat Gojo, but they could at least stand a chance.
Light Yagami (Or Anyone with a Death Note)
We'll start with the simplest. “Defeat” is a broad word. Would Light simply kill Gojo from the comfort of his home count as defeating him? We believe so. This discussion isn’t very mysterious; all someone with the Death Note needs to do is to know Satoru Gojo's name and face, and in 45 seconds, this match would be over.
However, Kira has another advantage in this battle: his intellect. Even without knowing Satoru’s identity, he could easily find it out, as seen in his battles with L.
Lelouch V. Britannia
Staying in the realm of geniuses, we have Lelouch, capable of defeating our champion with just a glance. By making eye contact, Lelouch can dominate the will of anyone affected by his power, forcing the victim to carry out any command he orders.
And here we encounter a problem: Lelouch needs to make eye contact, which has two barriers. First, Gojo wears a blindfold. This is quite simple; Gojo could just stay blindfolded the entire time, and Lelouch would be powerless.
The second barrier is the speed that the sorcerer exhibits, being too fast to be followed by the normal eyes even if you're part of the Jujutsu Kaisen cast, something Lelouch is unlikely to be more proficient at.
Even so, the prince of Britannia secured a spot on this list due to his genius intellect and his ability to bypass Mugen.
Giorno Giovanna
Choosing the protagonist of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part Five seems almost like cheating. Giorno is practically impossible to defeat.
Here's an explanation of his ability to make this clear: The ability of Gold Experience Requiem (Giorno’s power) is to nullify the actions and willpower of anyone opposing him, preventing anything they do from becoming reality. Once the effect is activated, there's no escape, and any action the opponent takes will be undone, regardless of their skill.
Any opponent directly attacked and "killed" by Requiem will have the very fact of their death undone, making them experience death continuously and indefinitely in various scenarios.
Additionally, Giorno can use his powers to heal himself and give life to objects. So, let's hope the blue-eyed prince doesn’t encounter the golden curls.
Itachi (and Other Uchihas)
Gojo has no defense against Itachi’s Tsukuyomi, an ocular technique that puts the victim in a genjutsu so powerful it can manipulate the perception of time and cause extreme pain in a matter of seconds in the real world. Itachi can launch this technique with just a glance, and once trapped in Tsukuyomi, Gojo would be at the mercy of the Uchiha.
Ad
Even though Gojo’s powers are vast, his ability to defend against mental attacks is questionable. Therefore, an encounter with Itachi or another skilled Uchiha could result in his defeat.
However, despite being more trained, the Uchihas face the same problem as Lelouch - could they trap Gojo in their Genjutsu?
Nanika
This is a curious match. Nanika has the ability to turn any wish into reality, and at least so far, we haven’t seen anything Nanika is incapable of doing, even reversing the curse that Gon places on himself.
This should be a simple victory for her - all it takes is wishing Gojo dead, and he would be, right? Well, yes. But here’s the thing, Nanika has never used her power on her own; she requires someone else to make the wish for her.
We don’t know how she would react in a situation of extreme danger when alone, but we at least know she would have the ability to end Gojo.
Übel
This is certainly our most controversial choice, and many of you probably won't agree with it. But wait a minute, let’s try to convince you!
Übel has a very similar ability to Sukuna: she launches cutting projectiles with unpredictable trajectories. Additionally, the mage has another characteristic in her ability: as long as Übel can visualize herself cutting something, her magic can do it. The mage is also a master of hand-to-hand combat with a highly advanced intellect, though not as proficient as Gojo.
The question is: Could she visualize herself cutting Gojo? Probably, yes, and then Übel should be able to slice Satoru. Could she defeat him? Probably not; the sorcerer’s speed would prove too much for her, not to mention his other destructive abilities, but at least she would have a chance to hurt him.
Misogi Kumagawa
Medaka Box was a manga that was quite popular a few years ago. Unfortunately, the anime adaptation wasn’t the best, and its story was forgotten by many. However, Kumagawa remains one of the most powerful villains in all fiction. His ability, “All Fiction”, can turn any aspect of reality into nothing effortlessly.
Kumagawa can erase the concept of death from someone’s existence, making that person immortal. Misogi’s power has no limits, and all it would take to defeat Satoru Gojo is to delete any of his aspects from reality, whether it be Jujutsu, the Six Eyes, or even the sorcerer himself.
The only chance Gojo would have to defeat Kumagawa is the fact that the student doesn’t use his power often, since he cannot return what he erases. Because of this, Misogi is careful when using his ability; otherwise, he could end up erasing the entire universe, or even more, from existence.
Jean Grey
Ad
Jean Grey, especially in her Phoenix form, represents an almost limitless cosmic power. As Phoenix, Jean possesses vast psychic and telekinetic abilities, capable of manipulating matter and energy at subatomic levels, as well as having absolute control over others’ minds.
Jean’s ability to access the power of the Phoenix allows her to destroy and recreate entire worlds, manipulate time and space, and resurrect the dead. Against Gojo, the combination of her telepathic power and her cosmic abilities would mean she could invade Gojo’s mind or manipulate the reality around him, bypassing Mugen and finding ways to hurt or even completely defeat him.
The battle between Gojo and Jean would be a clash of titans, but with the cosmic powers of the Phoenix, Jean would have a significant advantage.
Ben 10
Ben Tennyson, the protagonist of the Ben 10 series, possesses the Omnitrix, a device that allows him to transform into several alien forms, each with unique abilities. Among his most powerful transformations are Alien X, an entity with reality manipulation powers and near invincibility, and Way Big, a giant with colossal strength and durability.
Alien X, in particular, has the power to alter reality at will. This means that, in theory, Ben could simply erase Gojo from existence or nullify his abilities. However, using Alien X is complicated, as its three internal consciousnesses need to agree for any action to be taken.
Even so, the mere possibility of Ben accessing such power ensures him a spot on this list.
Ban
Ban, from the series Nanatsu no Taizai, is immortal due to consuming the Fountain of Youth. This means that, regardless of the damage he suffers, he can completely regenerate. Additionally, Ban possesses the ability "Snatch," which allows him to steal objects, abilities, and even others’ physical strength.
Although Ban cannot directly overcome Gojo's "Infinity," his immortality ensures that he can withstand many of Gojo’s attacks. Furthermore, the "Snatch" ability could allow Ban to steal Gojo’s cursed energy, weakening him and making an eventual victory possible. The combination of immortality and the ability to steal powers makes Ban a significant threat to Gojo.
Bonus: Ryomen Sukuna
Who would win: the most powerful sorcerer in history or the strongest sorcerer of today? According to Gojo, if Sukuna had twenty fingers of power, he would "give a bit of trouble." But would Gojo really win this fight so easily?
It's true that despite his enormous experience, infinite cursed energy reserves (Sukuna is mentioned to have double the amount of energy that Yuta has, who is already considered to have boundless cursed energy), lethal technique, barrierless domain capable of annihilating everything in a huge area, and mastery of positive energy, Sukuna doesn’t have a simple way to bypass Mugen.
So, does this mean Sukuna cannot win? Well, according to manga spoilers, we already know that Gojo was defeated by the King of Curses due to Mahoraga. But, considering the anime, Sukuna has two weapons already presented that can be used: Domain Amplification and the Domain itself.
Ad
These two techniques are the villain's only chance of victory. Amplification allows Sukuna to bypass Infinity at the cost of not being able to use his own technique, which certainly isn’t the best idea given Gojo’s offensive capabilities. So, there’s actually only one option: a domain battle. A domain allows its owner to always hit their attacks within it, even nullifying Gojo’s Infinity. Would Sukuna have better mastery of this skill than Gojo? Probably, given his ability to generate a barrierless domain and centuries of experience.
However, at this moment, our question remains unanswered, and we’ll have to wait for the anime to know who would be the winner. That's why Sukuna is listed as a bonus character here.
Conclusion
Although Satoru Gojo is one of the most powerful and invulnerable characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, fiction is full of beings with equally impressive abilities who could challenge and possibly defeat him.
Whether through mental abilities, reality manipulation, brute power, or advanced magic, the characters on this list present convincing arguments on how they could at least hurt Gojo.
We tried to exclude cosmic beings from this list, with Jean Grey being an exception. But what about you, what did you think? Which other character would you choose to include in the list? Write in the comments!
