Pedro Pascal posted a photo on Saturday (24) making the L hand sign in support of Lula (PT). The post came ahead of the second round of Brazil’s presidential election, scheduled for Sunday (25), and adds to endorsements of Lula from Brazilian and international artists.

On Friday (23), filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho shared a video featuring film industry figures backing Lula’s reelection. Participants include Mark Ruffalo, Tilda Swinton, Javier Bardem, Pedro Almodóvar, Guillermo del Toro and Wagner Moura. Pascal also appears in the video, which was released before he posted the photo.

The endorsements follow a first round decided by fewer than two percentage points of valid votes. In the October 4 vote, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) finished first with 47,03% of valid votes, or 56.104.503 votes. Lula came second with 45,16%, or 53.879.538 votes.

The result sent both candidates into Sunday’s runoff. Kleber Mendonça Filho’s video and Pedro Pascal’s photo were both released between the two rounds: the filmmaker brought together artists on Friday, and the actor made his support public on Saturday. Both endorse Lula, while the first-round figures show where each candidate stood before the final vote.

With the second round set for October 25, Pascal’s photo is the most recent endorsement cited. The vote will again pit first-round leader Flávio Bolsonaro against Lula, who is seeking reelection.
