Summer Time Render
MAL Rating: 8.48
Genres: Mystery, Supernatural, Suspense
In this one, Shinpei returns to his hometown for the funeral of his childhood friend, Ushio. What should have been a quick visit turns into a plot full of supernatural mysteries when Shinpei discovers that something sinister is happening on the island.
Think of Re:Zero, but in a world closer to ours. The island where Shinpei used to live contains a popular folklore story where "shadows," perfect clones of the residents, kill them and take their place. Amid various events, Shinpei begins to question whether this story might have some truth.
With an engaging narrative and surprising twists, Summer Time Render is a great choice for fans of mystery and suspense.
Death Parade
MAL Rating: 8.14
Genres: Drama, Mystery, Psychological, Supernatural
After death, souls are sent to mysterious bars, where bartenders serve as arbiters in deadly games that will decide their fate. Moreover, the anime has one of the most popular openings of all time, despite not being widely watched.
Its slower pace may drive many viewers away, but defending the title, with the message that Death Parade seeks to convey, a slower progression in the story is necessary; it needs to be absorbed and reflected upon. This anime is not a light show.
Death Parade is profound and philosophical, exploring human nature and the concept of life after death. Each episode introduces new characters and stories that will make you reflect on life and death.
Beelzebub
MAL Rating: 7.87
Genres: Action, Comedy, Supernatural
Oga Tatsumi is a delinquent who ends up finding a peculiar baby named Beelzebub, who is none other than the son of the Demon King. Now, he must take care of this baby and face various supernatural and comical challenges using the power of the Demon King's son.
Beelzebub almost didn't find a place on this list due to not aging so well. It's comedy no longer hits the mark as effectively, and the action scenes are dated. However, if you are looking for a fusion of supernatural, demons, and school delinquents, Beelzebub is perfect for you!
Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun
MAL Rating: 7.83
Genres: Comedy, School, Supernatural
At Kamome Academy, there is an urban legend about Hanako-san, a spirit that resides in the girls' bathroom on the third floor, similar to the "Bloody Mary." Nene Yashiro, a student, ends up summoning Hanako-kun and finds herself involved in a series of supernatural adventures.
Hanako-kun, at the beginning of its story, presents a formula we have seen many times and doesn't strive much to deviate from it. An ordinary person encounters a supernatural being, and with its power, they solve different cases every week together. But, as the story develops, the show's own identity begins to emerge, and for fans of this plot, it is certainly worth watching.

With unique art and a story that becomes enchanting, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun is a fun and intriguing option.
Mieruko-chan
MAL Rating: 7.40
Genres: Comedy, Horror, Supernatural
Miko Yotsuya has the ability to see terrifying spirits but decides to ignore them and continue her life normally. Much of the horror from this show comes from the art that represents the ghosts in a frightening way and how much the protagonist suffers trying to pretend not to see the grotesque supernatural beings doing disgusting things.
Unfortunately, the story loses some of its direction and charm as the episodes progress, giving space to more action instead of focusing on it's initial appeal. In any case, Mieruko-chan is an anime that mixes comedy and horror, providing moments of scares and laughs as Miko tries to survive her daily life surrounded by supernatural entities.
AJIN
MAL Rating: 7.39
Genres: Action, Horror, Mystery, Supernatural
Kei Nagai discovers that he is an Ajin, an immortal being, after surviving a fatal accident. Now, he must flee from the government and other Ajins who want to capture him. The plot is full of twists and high-tension moments, exploring the challenges and moral dilemmas of Ajins in the human world.
The CGI visuals can be a bit divisive, but the story and action make up for it for those looking for a darker and more intense narrative.
Deadman Wonderland
MAL Rating: 7.14
Genres: Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Supernatural
After being wrongfully accused of the massacre of his classmates, Ganta Igarashi is sent to a macabre prison known as Deadman Wonderland. There, he discovers he has supernatural powers and must fight for his survival.
Deadman Wonderland is an intense and dark series, full of action and twists. The prison itself is a bizarre and terrifying spectacle, where prisoners are forced to participate in deadly games for the entertainment of the spectators.
With an engaging plot and captivating characters, it is a great choice for those who like violent anime. Unfortunately, the adaptation is not complete, but the manga is!
Devilman Crybaby
MAL Rating: 7.75
Genres: Action, Drama, Horror, Supernatural
Akira Fudo transforms into Devilman, a being with demonic powers, to fight against demons that threaten humanity. Devilman Crybaby is known for its visceral and emotional narrative, addressing deep and complex themes about humanity and evil. Devilman is more than just an anime; it is a work of art, from its stylized animation to its soundtrack.
We understand that the drawing style may turn some people away, but for those who can stick with it, they will be rewarded with an anime that does not hesitate to show the brutality and sadness that comes with the simple fact of loving and being human. It is a visual and emotional experience that resonates with many after the final credits.

Dorohedoro
MAL Rating: 8.05
Genres: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Horror, Supernatural
In a decaying and ruined world, Caiman, a man with a reptile head, is searching for the sorcerer responsible for transforming his head into a lizard's, and nothing will stop him until he finds the source of the magic. Dorohedoro mixes elements of comedy, horror, and fantasy, creating a unique and captivating narrative with eccentric characters and a fascinating universe.
The anime is known for it's strange and wonderfully chaotic world, where magic and violence are the order of the day. If you ask me, the only thing that Dorohedoro did wrong was using CGI, but I recognize that the anime has several negative points.
The story can be difficult to follow for some due to the chaotic nature of the world, and the excess of violence is another negative point for many. That said, do not let the anime's visuals keep you away from something so amazing!
Kemono Jihen
MAL Rating: 7.37
Genres: Action, Mystery, Supernatural
When a series of strange deaths occur in a rural village, Inugami, a detective specializing in supernatural cases, is called to investigate. He meets Kabane, a boy with supernatural abilities, and together they unravel mysteries and face supernatural threats.
Honestly, it is surprising how little this anime is mentioned - yes, it suffers from the same problem as Hanako-kun, where its formula has been seen dozens of times before, but still, Kemono Jihen replicates it perfectly and even adds some new things! Its characters, while appearing flat, have some unique traits and manage to keep you interested throughout the episodes.
Kemono Jihen is a mix of action, mystery, and supernatural, offering an intriguing and engaging story. The character development and interactions make it a rewarding watch for fans of supernatural mysteries.
Combining elements of investigation and action, with charismatic characters and a well-developed plot, Kemono Jihen deserves more recognition than it received.
Conclusion
These are just a few of the supernatural anime that deserve to be watched. Each of them offers a unique experience, whether through their own way of narrating comical, scary, or reflective stories.
