System 3 has announced Putty World, a new reimagining of the platforming series that appeared on the Super Nintendo in the 1990s. The game will combine elements from Putty, Super Putty and Putty Squad in a single release scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.The franchise began in 1992 with Putty, originally released for the Amiga. Players controlled a blue blob capable of navigating complex stages using its jumping abilities. In 1993, the series arrived on the Super Nintendo with Super Putty, while Putty Squad was released for the console in 1994 without receiving a wide worldwide distribution.With Putty World, System 3 aims to modernize the series without abandoning its roots. The remake will feature revamped visuals and dual-analog controls, a feature absent from the original versions.The new version will include 75 brand-new or extensively updated stages. The game will also feature 45 new enemy types not found in earlier titles. The project promises a different experience even for players familiar with the SNES games, although the studio says it is seeking to remain faithful to the franchise’s identity.Putty World marks the return of a less-remembered series among the platformers of the Super Nintendo era, a period that also produced titles such as Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man X and Kirby Super Star.System 3 has not yet set an exact release date. The game is currently expected to launch between April and June 2027, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 platforms. No versions for other consoles or PC have been announced.
