Noah Wyle has been named 2026’s Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine. At 55, the actor received the title after building a career defined by medical roles, including Dr. Carter in ER and Dr. Robby, the lead character in The Pitt.

The announcement came as a surprise to the actor. In an interview with Peoplelink outside website, Wyle said he initially thought the news was a prank and insisted he never imagined receiving the honor.

His wife, Sara, played an important role in helping him accept the recognition. According to Wyle, she convinced him that his qualities as a person, father and husband justified the choice. The couple has three children: Owen, 24, Auden, 21, and Frances, 11.

During the magazine’s photo shoot, Sara accompanied her husband alongside their daughter Frances and their dog, Lily. Wyle also showed off his domestic skills, making his daughter’s favorite eggs, cleaning the kitchen and folding laundry. Sara said he handles these and other household chores at home in Los Angeles.

The actor had already appeared in People during the 1990s, when he was featured in an issue dedicated to ER’s sexy men alongside George Clooney, Eriq La Salle and Anthony Edwards. Clooney was later named the publication’s Sexiest Man Alive twice.

Wyle’s current run on The Pitt also features in the interview. The medical drama, which the actor described as the “second lightning bolt” of his life, returns for its third season in January on HBO Max. The role has earned him two consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor.
