About Wingmate Roc

Wingmate Roc, Creature — bird, designed by Mark Zug first released in Sep, 2014 in the set Khans of Tarkir and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck that focuses on aggressive strategies and attacking frequently would benefit from using Wingmate Roc, as it rewards you for attacking with multiple creatures and provides additional flying threats. However, in a competitive setting, there are potentially better cards that offer more immediate impact or synergy with specific strategies, such as Baneslayer Angel or Lyra Dawnbringer in white-based decks. Wingmate Roc could see play in certain midrange or token-based strategies, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the overall game plan of the deck.

Rules

01/19/18

Raid abilities evaluate the entire turn to see if you attacked with a creature. That creature doesn’t have to still be on the battlefield. Similarly, the player or planeswalker it attacked doesn’t have to still be in the game or on the battlefield, respectively.

09/20/14

Count the number of attacking creatures when the last ability resolves, including Wingmate Roc itself if it’s still on the battlefield, to determine how much life you gain.
