The 51st season of Survivor premieres on September 23 with a special two-hour episode. The broadcast begins at 8 p.m. Pacific and Eastern time in the United States on CBS. After the premiere, episodes will run for 90 minutes and air on Wednesdays at the same time.The season ushers in the show’s so-called Open Era. During the finale of the 50th season, host and producer Jeff Probst explained the idea: anything that has happened before on Survivor can happen again at any time, in any order and without warning. That includes twists, game mechanics and advantages previously seen by contestants and viewers.The cast consists of 21 people between the ages of 24 and 49. The professions represented include federal prosecutor, professional wrestler, voice actress and sociology professor. The combination of a new group and rules that can bring back elements from previous seasons sets the stage for this new phase of the reality series.In the United States, the premiere can be watched live on CBS or through services that carry the channel, such as DirecTV, Fubo and Hulu + Live TV. Paramount+ Premium subscribers will also have access to the episodes live and on demand. On the Paramount+ Essential plan, each episode will be available the day after it airs.The viewing options mentioned apply to the North American market. The September 23 premiere marks the beginning of the Open Era; subsequent episodes will move to a weekly 90-minute time slot on Wednesdays.
