Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie have been cast in the second season of Heated Rivalry, the HBO Max series based on Rachel Reid's Game Changer book series.

Smith will play Harris Drover, the social-media manager for the Ottawa Centaurs. The actor is known for projects including 2021's Generation and 2019's Pokémon Detective Pikachu.

Gillespie will play Troy Barrett, a hockey player who leaves the Toronto Guardians to join Ottawa. The move comes after he cuts ties with a friend and teammate accused of sexual assault.

The two join Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, who return as Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander. In the series, Storrie and Williams play rival hockey players who pursue a romance away from the rink.

Filming on the new season is expected to begin in August.

New episodes of Heated Rivalry are expected to premiere next Northern Hemisphere spring, between March and June 2027.
