Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger will document the reconciliation between Liam and Noel Gallagher, who shared a stage again after 15 years apart. The music documentary features the brothers’ first joint interviews in two decades and follows the band’s reunion tour, which took place last year.

Created, written and produced by Steven Knight, the film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. For Knight, the story goes beyond the musicians’ professional reunion: the focus is on reconciliation, redemption and forgiveness.

The film is co-directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace. The pair installed around 12 hidden cameras during rehearsals to capture the members without disrupting the environment. At the shows, the production used approximately 18 cameras operated by cinematographers.

Knight described Liam Gallagher’s first rehearsal with the band after so many years. Without much fanfare, the singer entered the room, made a remark about the drums and asked whether they could start. Oasis then began playing. According to the producer, the brothers’ relationship developed genuinely over the course of the tour, while their children also grew closer.

Southern said the intention was to keep the crew invisible throughout six weeks of rehearsals. Once on the road, the documentary’s focus expanded to include the audience’s reaction and its influence on the reunion. For the co-director, the fans’ love and excitement played an important role in bringing the Gallaghers back to the stage.

Oasis played 17 shows last year, beginning in Cardiff in July. Demand for tickets was high, and some fans paid more than expected because of dynamic pricing on ticketing platforms, a practice that was investigated by a government regulator.

Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger will open in cinemas on 11 September and will be available on Disney+ later this year.
