Shawn Mendes shared a video in support of Lula (PT) on Sunday (25), the day Brazilians returned to the polls to decide who would become president. The footage was recorded on Saturday (24) during a rally on Avenida Paulista in São Paulo.

The singer joins other international artists who have spoken out in favor of Lula on social media. Madonna shared a post urging voters to support the candidate, while Pedro Pascal posted a photo of himself making the L sign. Mark Ruffalo and Jason Momoa also shared a video supporting Lula’s candidacy.

The statements came after a first round in which the two candidates were separated by a narrow margin. In the October 4 vote, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) received 47.03% of the valid votes, while Lula won 45.16%. The runoff will now determine who takes the presidency.

Mendes’ post brought footage from Saturday’s rally to social media, on the eve of the vote. The expressions of support took different forms: a post urging voters to cast their ballots, a photo, a video backing the candidacy and, in the singer’s case, footage recorded at the Avenida Paulista demonstration.

According to the information released, Mendes’ video was not accompanied by details about its production or about whether the singer attended the rally in person. What is known is that he shared the footage in support of Lula on Sunday, as Brazilian voters returned to the polls to decide the presidency.
