Han Ji-min received the Trailblazer Award during American Film Night, a gala held in Busan. The honor recognizes artists whose careers expand representation in global entertainment and create space for stories that cross borders.The ceremony took place on the 33rd floor of the Park Hyatt Busan, overlooking the coastline and Gwangan Bridge. The actress was honored for a two-decade career in film and television. It was the first time the Trailblazer Award had been presented in South Korea.Han said she was pleased by the honor and the opportunity to work “beyond the boundaries of language.” She also said she enjoyed watching the original series that inspired her next project and considers joining the new production a significant challenge.The actress will star alongside Lee Byung-hun in Disney+’s The Koreans. The series reimagines The Americans in a Korean setting, with the two actors playing North Korean spies living in South Korea during the 1990s. The original production won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series in 2019.Han’s career gained prominence with the 2005 revenge drama Resurrection. She later starred in series including Yi San, Rooftop Prince, Our Blues and Love Scout. On the big screen, her performance as a former inmate who protects an abused girl in Miss Baek earned her Best Actress awards at the 2018 Blue Dragon Film Awards and the 2019 Baeksang Arts Awards.Guests at the gala included Moon Choi, an actress in Bedford Park and a member of the Busan competition jury; Agnes Lee, producer of KPop Demon Hunters; and Sang-jun Han, president of the Korean Film Council. Representatives from Disney and executives from South Korean companies also attended the event.
