About Utility Knife

Utility Knife, Artifact — equipment, designed by Craig J Spearing first released in Sep, 2020 in the set Zendikar Rising.

This Utility Knife card would be beneficial in an aggressive creature-based deck that aims to buff its creatures quickly and efficiently. While the +1/+1 boost is a nice bonus, the high equip cost of {3} may make it less appealing compared to other equipment cards like Bonesplitter or Sword of Fire and Ice, which provide additional abilities for a similar or lower cost. Utility Knife could see play in decks focused on creature synergy or equipment themes, but its effectiveness may be limited by its higher equip cost.

Rules

09/25/20

Attaching an Equipment with its enters-the-battlefield triggered ability isn’t the same as using its equip ability. You don’t pay mana for the attachment, and if the Equipment enters at a time you couldn’t cast a sorcery, you can still attach it to a creature you control.
