This Skarrg Guildmage card would be beneficial in a Gruul aggro deck, providing additional power and evasion with trample and a surprise 4/4 Elemental creature. However, in more competitive settings, cards like Domri Rade or Sarkhan Unbroken might offer more versatile and impactful abilities, making Skarrg Guildmage less likely to see play in top-tier decks.

Only creatures you control when the first ability resolves will gain trample. Creatures that come under your control later in the turn won’t have trample. Lands you control that aren’t creatures also won’t gain trample, even if you use the second ability to turn them into creatures later in the turn.
