About Sharding Sphinx

Sharding Sphinx, Artifact creature — sphinx, designed by Michael Bruinsma first released in May, 2020 in the set Shards of Alara and was printed exactly in 8 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

A deck focused on artifact creatures, especially ones with evasion like flying, would benefit from including Sharding Sphinx as it provides a steady stream of additional flying creatures to apply pressure on the opponent. However, there are better options available such as Master of Etherium or Steel Overseer which offer more impactful effects for their mana cost. Sharding Sphinx could still see play in a more casual or budget artifact-themed deck, but in a competitive setting, it may be outclassed by more powerful options.

The only difference between a colored artifact and a colorless artifact is, obviously, its color. Unlike most artifacts, a colored artifact requires colored mana to cast. Also unlike most artifacts, a colored artifact has a color in all zones. It will interact with cards that care about color. Other than that, a colored artifact behaves just like any other artifact. It will interact as normal with any card that cares about artifacts, such as Shatter or Arcbound Ravager.
