About Planar Outburst

Planar Outburst, Sorcery, designed by Vincent Proce first released in Oct, 2015 in the set Battle for Zendikar Promos and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

A control deck that focuses on board control and removal would benefit from using Planar Outburst, as it provides a powerful board wipe effect that can clear the way for a win condition. However, there are more efficient board wipes available in Magic: the Gathering, such as Wrath of God or Supreme Verdict, which may be better options depending on the deck's strategy and the current metagame. Planar Outburst could see play in certain situations, but its high mana cost and lack of flexibility may limit its effectiveness in competitive play.

Rules

08/25/15

A “nonland creature” is a creature that isn’t also a land.

08/25/15

Awaken doesn’t give the land you control a color. As most lands are colorless, in most cases the resulting land creature will also be colorless.

08/25/15

If the non-awaken part of the spell doesn’t require a target and you cast the spell for its awaken cost, then the spell won’t resolve if the target land you control becomes illegal before the spell resolves (such as due to being destroyed in response to the spell being cast).

08/25/15

If the non-awaken part of the spell requires a target, you must choose a legal target. You can’t cast the spell if you can’t choose a legal target for each instance of the word “target” (though you only need a legal target for the awaken ability if you’re casting the spell for its awaken cost).
