About Maraleaf Rider

Maraleaf Rider, Creature — elf knight, designed by Kieran Yanner first released in Sep, 2019 in the set Throne of Eldraine and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Maraleaf Rider could be beneficial in a green-based aggro deck that focuses on creating and sacrificing Food tokens for various effects. However, there may be better options available depending on the specific strategy of the deck, such as Questing Beast for a more aggressive approach or Lovestruck Beast for a more defensive one. Maraleaf Rider could see play in a deck that can consistently generate Food tokens and take advantage of its ability to force blocks, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the overall game plan and synergy with other cards in the deck.

Rules

10/04/19

If an effect refers to a Food, it means any Food artifact, not just a Food artifact token. For example, you can sacrifice Gingerbrute to activate the last ability of Tempting Witch.

If the target creature can’t block for any reason (such as being tapped), then it doesn’t block. If there’s a cost associated with having it block, its controller isn’t forced to pay that cost, so it doesn’t have to block in that case either.
