Lurking Evil, Enchantment, designed by Scott Kirschner first released in Oct, 1998 in the set Urza's Saga and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
The Lurking Evil card would benefit a deck focused on black mana ramp or life manipulation strategies, potentially fitting into an aggressive mono-black or black-white deck. However, due to its high cost and risky ability, it may be outclassed by more efficient threats like Phyrexian Obliterator or Griselbrand in competitive play. Overall, Lurking Evil may not see widespread use but could find a niche in certain niche decks for its unique playstyle.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.

If you have zero or negative life, half your life is zero, so it costs nothing to use the ability.
