About Illusory Demon

Illusory Demon, Creature — demon illusion, designed by Nils Hamm first released in Apr, 2009 in the set Alara Reborn.

Illusory Demon could be useful in a control deck that aims to cast a lot of spells, as it can provide a flying threat while also potentially serving as a deterrent for opponents to cast spells. However, the drawback of having to sacrifice it whenever a spell is cast may limit its effectiveness. There are likely better options available, such as Delver of Secrets, which transforms into a powerful flyer without the sacrifice condition, making it a more reliable choice for decks looking for a similar effect. Ultimately, Illusory Demon may not see much play in competitive decks due to its drawback.

Rules

05/01/09

If you cast a spell, the spell goes on the stack, then Illusory Demon’s triggered ability goes on the stack on top of it. The triggered ability will resolve (and you’ll sacrifice Illusory Demon) before the spell resolves.
