About Bloodfray Giant

Bloodfray Giant, Creature — giant, designed by Steve Argyle first released in May, 2020 in the set Return to Ravnica and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Bloodfray Giant could be a strong addition to an aggressive red deck looking to apply pressure early in the game, thanks to its Trample ability and the option to enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter using Unleash. However, in a competitive setting, there are better options such as Stormbreath Dragon or Thundermaw Hellkite that offer more impactful abilities and synergies for a similar mana cost, making Bloodfray Giant less likely to see play in top-tier decks.

Rules

04/15/13

A creature with unleash can’t block if it has any +1/+1 counter on it, not just one put on it by the unleash ability.

04/15/13

You make the choice to have the creature with unleash enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter or not as it’s entering the battlefield. At that point, it’s too late for a player to respond to the creature spell by trying to counter it, for example.
