About Army of the Damned

Army of the Damned, Sorcery, designed by Ryan Pancoast first released in Sep, 2011 in the set Innistrad and was printed exactly in 8 different ways. It's a key card in 1 combos.

An Army of the Damned card would be beneficial in a deck that focuses on graveyard recursion and token generation, particularly in a black-heavy deck with mana ramp capabilities. While the card can create a substantial army of zombies, its high mana cost may limit its efficiency in faster-paced formats like Modern or Pioneer. Other cards like Endless Ranks of the Dead or Liliana, Dreadhorde General may provide more consistent value in similar strategies, but Army of the Damned can still be a powerful late-game finisher in Commander or casual formats.

Rules

03/19/21

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you’re paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The converted mana cost of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.

03/19/21

You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.

03/19/21

“Flashback [cost]” means “You may cast this card from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost” and “If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack.”
