About Aetherling

Aetherling, Creature — shapeshifter, designed by Tyler Jacobson first released in May, 2013 in the set Dragon's Maze and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It's a key card in 3 combos.

Aetherling would be a great addition to a control deck in Magic: the Gathering, providing versatility and evasion with its ability to become unblockable and its ability to exile itself for protection. However, in competitive formats, it may be overshadowed by more efficient threats like Torrential Gearhulk or Snapcaster Mage, which offer immediate value upon entering the battlefield. Aetherling could still see play in more casual or budget decks looking for a resilient finisher with built-in protection and evasion.

Rules

04/15/13

Aetherling’s first ability will return it to the battlefield only if that ability also exiled it. If Aetherling left the battlefield in response to that ability, it won’t return, even if it was exiled by another spell or ability.
