Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, was released by Marvel Studios on April 26, 2019, as the conclusion to the Infinity Saga's central storyline. It follows the surviving Avengers and their allies after Thanos uses the six Infinity Stones to erase half of all life in Avengers: Infinity War. The opening immediately establishes the catastrophe through Clint Barton's disappearance and the Avengers' failed attempt to reverse the Snap. Set five years later, the film shows a damaged world and heroes living with consequences rather than treating the earlier defeat as a temporary setback that can simply be undone. Scott Lang's return from the Quantum Realm supplies the story's practical possibility: time travel. With Bruce Banner's merged Hulk identity, Tony Stark's reluctant calculations, and help from a time-heist plan, the team visits specific moments from earlier Marvel films to retrieve the Stones. The missions revisit the Battle of New York, Thor's captivity of the Reality Stone on Asgard, and the extraction of the Power Stone on Morag. They also take Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton to Vormir, where the Soul Stone demands a sacrifice. The structure turns continuity into plot, making earlier scenes consequential instead of relying on spectacle. Endgame balances cosmic action with intimate farewells. Tony, now living with Pepper Potts and raising their daughter Morgan, joins the mission after discovering a workable time-travel model. His decision to wield the Stones kills him, completing a character arc that began with his self-centered captivity in Iron Man and developed through repeated attempts to protect others. Steve Rogers, meanwhile, returns the Stones and chooses a life with Peggy Carter, then passes his shield to Sam Wilson. Natasha's death gives the Vormir exchange emotional cost, while Thor's depression and decision to join the Guardians of the Galaxy leave his future open. At release, the film became a major commercial event, earning more than $2.7 billion worldwide and briefly surpassing Avatar as the highest-grossing film ever before Avatar reclaimed that position. Its climactic battle brings together nearly every surviving hero, including Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, the Guardians, Wakandans, and the revived victims of the Snap.
