A deck that focuses on disrupting the opponent's hand and gaining life would benefit from including Gerrard's Verdict, especially in a control or midrange strategy. However, there are arguably better options like Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek for targeted hand disruption, and cards like Sphinx's Revelation for gaining life. While Gerrard's Verdict has its niche uses, it may not be the most optimal choice for competitive play due to its restrictive mana cost and potentially more efficient alternatives available in the format.
