The search for the next James Bond is expected to move forward this weekend, with a select group of actors set to take part in screen tests in London. Callum Turner and Jack Lowden are among those being considered, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Two sources told the outlet the tests could begin as early as Friday. It is not yet clear who else will be tested. The outlet’s reporting points to at least three participants, though one source said the group could include as many as five. Taking part in the tests does not mean an actor has secured the role of 007.Turner recently starred in the romantic comedy One Night Only, while Lowden is a cast member of the series Slow Horses. Jack O’Connell, who appeared in Sinners, had been mentioned as a possible contender but is not expected to take part in the tests, according to the sources. Jacob Elordi, known for Euphoria and Frankenstein, will not test either, despite earlier reports linking him to the search. The details of the auditions have not been confirmed. The sources, however, described a wide-ranging process with three parts: action scenes, on-camera presence and dialogue delivery. Amazon did not comment on the actors named and referred the outlet to an earlier statement saying the search for the new Bond is underway and that it will share news when the time comes. The decision will determine who takes over from Daniel Craig, who played Bond from Casino Royale, released in 2006, through No Time to Die in 2021. Henry Cavill was among the candidates in the search that ended with Craig winning the role. The next James Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing and overseeing the franchise for Amazon MGM Studios, which acquired creative control from the Broccoli family in February 2025.
