Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt have been cast in guest roles for the second and final season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. According to Paramount+, Nighy will play Nyk Ake, Nahla’s father, while DeWitt will play Laytha Sadal, Trima’s mother. The streaming service has not released further details about the characters.The new episodes are set to premiere in March 2027, though an exact date has not been announced. Filming on the final season has wrapped.Ruaridh Aldington has also joined the cast for the final season. His character, Keats, is a young alien the cadets encounter during an away mission. They decide to take him to Starfleet Academy, where they discover he is a wanted fugitive whose life is in danger.The series follows a new class of cadets training to become Starfleet officers. Between classes and missions, they navigate friendships, rivalries and first loves while facing an enemy who threatens the Academy and the Federation.The cast includes Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard and George Hawkins. Oded Fehr, Tig Notaro, Mary Wiseman and Robert Picardo also appear in the series. Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as co-showrunners and executive producers.Paramount+ has not yet announced an exact premiere date for the second season or revealed further details about Nighy and DeWitt’s roles.
