Boon of Erebos, Instant, designed by James Ryman first released in May, 2020 in the set Theros.
This card, Boon of Erebos, would be beneficial in a black aggressive deck looking to pump up its creatures and protect them from removal. However, there are better options available such as Undying Evil which provides similar benefits without the life loss drawback, making it a more efficient choice for competitive play. Boon of Erebos could still see play in casual or budget decks where its versatility and regeneration ability are valued.

The loss of life is part of the spell’s effect. It’s not an additional cost. If Boon of Erebos doesn’t resolve, you won’t lose life.
