The first images from The Exorcist: Martyrs spotlight Scarlett Johansson, who stars in the latest film in the franchise. Directed by Mike Flanagan, the reboot is set to hit theaters on March 11, 2027.Described as a “radical new vision” for the saga, the film will not continue the story of The Exorcist: Believer. The previous film was conceived as the first chapter in a trilogy that never moved forward.Alongside Johansson, the cast includes Jacobi Jupe, Diane Lane, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Leguizamo, Sasha Calle and Laurence Fishburne. Rahul Kohli, Hamish Linklater, Gil Bellows, Carl Lumbly, Robert Longstreet, Matt Biedel, Samantha Sloyan, Kate Siegel, John Gallagher Jr., Benjamin Pajak and Carla Gugino also appear in the film.Flanagan has said he intends to make the scariest film of his career. The director said he wanted to take on the franchise because he believed he could bring something meaningful to it, rather than simply rely on nostalgia for the earlier installments. His aim, he said, is to create something new for the saga while also honoring the legacy of the previous films. The first images arrive as the reboot prepares to introduce its fresh take to audiences.
