Caco Ciocler plays an unemployed, debt-ridden superhero in the trailer for Overman, a Brazilian comedy based on the character created by Laerte Coutinho.Far removed from the glamorous image usually associated with superheroes, Overman is going through a personal crisis as he tries to figure out what to do with his life. The adaptation brings to theaters a character who first appeared in Laerte’s comic strips in 1998 and became known for its satirical take on the genre.In the film, the character is offered a job by the Governor, played by Otavio Muller, at the Department of Public Security. However, the career change does not immediately solve his problems.It is in this new environment that Overman meets Pâmela, the Dog Woman, played by Karina Ramil. Better prepared and more efficient than her colleague, she quickly begins to make a name for herself, forcing the hero to confront his insecurities while also dealing with the city’s problems.Overman’s crisis is at the heart of the comedy. Rather than portraying a life of great achievements and prestige, the film follows a character with no money, mounting debts and a search for a new direction.Alongside Ciocler, Muller and Ramil, the cast includes Victor Lamoglia, Maria Lucas, Marina Provenzzano, Caio Riscado and Isabele Riccart. Raphael Logam makes a special appearance in the film.Overman opens in theaters on October 22.
