The cast of Godzilla Minus Zero brought memories of the warm reception the film received in Los Angeles to the Tokyo International Film Festival. Kamiki Ryunosuke and Hamabe Minami attended the event on Sunday, just two days before the film’s premiere in Japan. The two actors had returned to Japan after the premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre. Kamiki, who reprises his role as Shikishima Koichi, said the energy in Hollywood was extraordinary and that the experience reinforced his sense of how much audiences care about the character. The screening for 900 people was met with sustained applause, according to the account shared at the event. After the premiere, the cast met viewers at a party, where fans shared their reactions. Some wore themed outfits or Godzilla pins. The response also stood out on the red carpet. Fans brought signs, asked for autographs and shouted Yamazaki Takashi’s name. Kamiki described the cheers as an intense display of enthusiasm, especially when the director came over to sign autographs. The festival also marked Nagatani Sae’s first appearance on stage. The young actress returns as Shikishima Akiko, a character with few lines in Godzilla Minus One who now has a full set of dialogue. Kamiki said she memorized all her lines and delivered her performance with precision.Hamabe also spoke about the change. During filming on the first movie, Nagatani was still very young and was frightened by the presence of so many adults on set. On the next production, she seemed more outgoing and confident.According to Kamiki, Godzilla Minus Zero takes place two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One. The family had settled into a routine until Godzilla’s return threatened that stability. For Hamabe, the story is about people standing together against an impossible force, highlighting human resilience as one of the elements that keeps the franchise relevant. With information from Variety.
