The dark romance novel Cutelo & Corvo (Butcher & Blackbird), Brynne Weaver’s 2023 bestseller, is being adapted for the big screen by Amazon MGM Studios. Emma Laird and Thomas Doherty will play the lead roles in the film, which will be released worldwide on Prime Video.

The story follows two killers who hunt serial killers. Rivals at first, they turn their rivalry into a competition to outdo each other while developing an unexpected connection.

Their relationship takes on new dimensions as they begin to question whether they can build a life together. The challenge is balancing that desire with a violent past, a central element of Brynne Weaver’s story.

Chris McKay, director of The Tomorrow War, will helm the adaptation. Laura Kosann will write the screenplay, while Alexander Black of Lyrical Media and production company Embrace will produce the film.

Brynne Weaver and Chris McKay will also serve as executive producers. Arlen Konopaki, Jon Rosenberg and Jonathan Faust round out the executive producing team.

No release date, additional cast members or further production details have been announced. The available information confirms Emma Laird and Thomas Doherty’s casting, the creative team and the film’s worldwide distribution on Prime Video.
