Universal became the first major Hollywood studio to surpass $4 billion in cumulative worldwide box office in 2026. The milestone comes after Disney became the first to pass $3 billion at the end of June.Of Universal's total revenue so far, $1.53 billion comes from the domestic market and $2.48 billion from international markets. It is the first time since 2023 that the studio has reached the $4 billion mark, and the fifth time in its history.One of the main recent boosts is Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. In its third weekend in theaters, the film reached $911 million worldwide and is approaching $1 billion. During the period, it grossed $136.2 million globally, including $68 million earned in Imax theaters.The film's performance in the large-format screens represented the second-highest-grossing weekend in Imax history. The Odyssey occupied the chain's theaters worldwide, with the exception of China, Japan and South Korea, where the film has not yet opened.Universal also released two of the three films that have already surpassed $1 billion globally in 2026: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael. In addition, the studio led the worldwide box office on ten weekends throughout the year.On the list of the ten biggest global films of 2026, Universal and Focus Features have five titles: Michael, in second place; The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, in third; The Odyssey, in fourth; Obsession, in ninth; and Minions & Monsters, in tenth.Obsession also established itself as the biggest worldwide success in the history of Focus Features and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with $475 million.
