Naomi Watts has revealed that she appears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as the voice of E.V.I.E., or E.V., the artificial intelligence assistant created by Peter Parker. The actress's involvement in the film went unnoticed by some moviegoers during its domestic theatrical run.

In a social media post, Watts celebrated the film's release and commented on reuniting with Tom Holland, her co-star in The Impossible, released in 2012.

“From playing his mother to playing his AI (100% human-made). Congratulations to Tom, Destin and the entire Spider-Man: Brand New Day team on the historic opening weekend!! I am so incredibly proud to be part, even in such a small way, of this amazing film!”

- Naomi Watts

The role marks Naomi Watts's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actress joins a film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker four years after the events of No Way Home. Now an adult and isolated after erasing his existence from the memories of the people he loved, Peter devotes himself to fighting crime in a New York that does not remember him.

The story pits the hero against a dangerous physical evolution and a mysterious new threat emerging in the city.

Tom Holland returns as the friendly neighborhood hero, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tramell Tillman and Sadie Sink.
