Madonna won Artist of the Year at the 2026 Video Music Awards, announced by MTV this Thursday (27). The singer also took home the Best Dance award for Confessions II – The Film and won Best Collaboration alongside Sabrina Carpenter for “Bring Your Love”.The trophies come after the release of Confessions II, an album that follows up on Confessions on a Dance Floor, released two decades ago. The new record features 16 original tracks, including “I Feel So Free”, “Bring Me Love” and “Love Sensation”.The album also features appearances by Stromae, Martin Garrix, Feid, Lola Leon, Madonna’s eldest daughter, and Sabrina Carpenter. The collaboration with Carpenter appears on “Bring Your Love”, one of the project’s tracks already released.Confessions on a Dance Floor marked a turning point in Madonna’s career by restoring the artist’s commercial and critical momentum after 2003’s American Life. The album includes hits such as “Hung Up”, “Sorry” and “Jump” and is considered one of the most influential releases of the 2000s, influencing artists including Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears.The new era also received a visual production in the form of Confessions II – The Film, which won Best Dance at the 2026 VMAs. “Bring Your Love”, meanwhile, earned Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter the Best Collaboration award.With three wins, Madonna is expanding the reach of Confessions II and reinforcing the connection between the album, its visual concept and the partnerships featured on the project.
