Bad Bunny won the award for Best Latin Music at the 2026 VMAs for “NUEVAYol,” a track from the album Debí Tirar Más Fotos. The honor was presented during the latest edition of the ceremony.

Released in January, the album follows 2023’s Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana. It draws on reggaeton and house while looking back to the artist’s Latin roots through genres such as plena, jíbaro, salsa and bomba.

The songs also address issues connected to Bad Bunny’s homeland, including its political status, gentrification and the loss of cultural identity. In “NUEVAYol,” the singer expands on this blend of danceable rhythms and narratives tied to the Latin experience.

Debí Tirar Más Fotos also features the singles “El Clúb,” “Pitorro de Coco” and “Eoo.” The album arrived after a string of records broken by the artist throughout the year, further cementing Bad Bunny’s place among the leading names in Latin music.

The award at the 2026 VMAs adds another honor to the singer’s recent career, as he continues to connect his music with Puerto Rican cultural elements. The win also puts “NUEVAYol” at the center of the ceremony’s celebration of Latin music.
