Flora Matos called on João Gomes to take a political stance and said she may ask for the removal of the version of “Piloto” recorded by the singer. The rapper spoke out this Saturday (17) on social media, amid pressure for the artist to publicly address the presidential election.“João Gomes, if you don’t take a stance, I’ll ask for your version of my song ‘Piloto’ to be taken down,” Flora wrote on X. Originally released in 2018, the song received a version sung by the Pernambuco artist in 2023.In another post, the artist said she does not intend to license her songs to people who, in her view, support criminals. Flora also criticized the Bolsonaro family and questioned whether João Gomes’s political views are compatible with his personal convictions. The rapper also suggested that the singer may have been pressured to avoid the subject and to backtrack after taking a position. Addressing João directly, she wrote: “I’m here for you, my man. But you have to defend the rights of Brazilians; otherwise, it doesn’t make sense for you to sing my song.” In the same message, she added: “Call me if anything.”The dispute comes after renewed pressure for João Gomes to speak out about the presidential election runoff. Ary Mirelle, the artist’s wife, discussed the consequences of his previous experience with political exposure and said he is still dealing with the effects of that period.“I want to explain to you that the last time João took a position in an election, he was heavily canceled. He still has to hear horrible things to this day, and he also still takes strong antidepressants, because without them, he can’t even get up to go to work,” Ary said.Flora Matos did not say whether she has already filed a formal request to remove the version of “Piloto” from platforms or other services.
