Rachel Weisz was photographed in London wearing period costumes while filming The Mummy 4. The actress appears in a brown jacket, yellow polka-dot skirt, hat and carrying a briefcase in images that offer the first glimpse of Evelyn O’Connell in the new production.The film is currently in production and reunites Weisz with Brendan Fraser, who returns as Rick O’Connell. The pair reprise their original franchise roles, with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the directing duo known for their work on Scream, at the helm. The screenplay was written by David Coggeshall.Fraser also discussed preparing for the sequel, saying he is “doing my best” to get in shape. In a lighthearted tone, the actor said the production would “get the band back together” and give audiences something they have been asking for for more than twenty years.“I held out hope for a long time, then I thought: ‘I don’t know if they’re going to make it.’ Other Mummy movies were made. But look, what we’re going to do is get back into the action, return to the filming locations… I think I should stop talking like this, because I don’t want to give everything away,” Fraser said.Arnold Vosloo, who played Imhotep in the first two films, will also return. The details do not reveal what the actor’s role will be, but suggest that the character could return as the antagonist. Vosloo debuted as the Egyptian priest in the 1997 film and reprised the role in 2001’s The Mummy Returns.Oded Fehr and Kevin O’Connor round out the confirmed returning cast. Fehr will once again play Ardeth Bay, leader of the Medjai, while O’Connor will return as Beni Gabor. The Mummy 4 is officially scheduled for release on October 15, 2027.
