Connect is a South Korean science-fiction thriller series that premiered on Disney+ on December 7, 2022. Based on Shin Dae-sung’s Naver webtoon of the same title, it has six episodes and was directed by Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike. The series stars Jung Hae-in as Ha Dong-soo, a Connect, meaning a human-like being able to regenerate severe injuries. Go Kyung-pyo plays Oh Jin-seop, and Kim Hye-jun plays Lee I-rang, another Connect. Kim Roi-ha appears as Detective Choi. The adaptation is Korean-language despite Miike’s Japanese nationality, and it marked his first Korean drama series. Disney+ released it internationally as an original series.

Dong-soo is abducted by organ traffickers while attempting to find a home. During his captivity, the criminals remove one of his eyes for transplantation. His regenerative ability lets him survive and grow another eye, but the operation creates an alarming link with the recipient. Dong-soo can see through the stolen eye and feels connected to the man who received it. That man is Jin-seop, a serial killer whose murders become the show’s central investigation. Dong-soo witnesses visions of crimes and realizes that his missing eye is inside a murderer. He consequently pursues Jin-seop while confronting the traffickers who exploited him.

Jin-seop is not portrayed merely as an anonymous killer: he arranges bodies into elaborate displays that are publicly regarded as sculptures. His apparent artistic status conceals the killings that Dong-soo sees through their shared eye. This split between public admiration and private violence is specific to the conflict between the two men. Lee I-rang enters Dong-soo’s life as another Connect and becomes an important ally in his fight against Jin-seop. Detective Choi follows the homicide cases from the police side, giving the story a parallel investigation. The series repeatedly returns to the consequences of organ theft and to Dong-soo’s body.

Connect was made from a webtoon rather than an original television concept, and its story keeps the webtoon’s core idea of beings whose bodies recover after catastrophic harm. Miike directs the material as a compact six-episode thriller, centering Jung’s character on the search for the eye taken from him. Go’s Jin-seop makes that search personal: each vision gives Dong-soo evidence of a killing and confirms that the recipient is the sculptor he must stop. The December 2022 release placed the show among Disney+’s Korean original dramas. Its premise joins organ trafficking, regeneration, and a transplanted eye, mechanism connecting hero and killer.
