What To Expect From The New Demon Slayer Trilogy?

Recently, the fourth season of the acclaimed anime Kimetsu no Yaiba came to an end, leaving us on the brink of the final stretch of the story. With this, Ufotable confirmed that the next arc, the Infinity Castle, will be divided into three films. What lies ahead, and what can we expect in the final stretch of this story?

Although the unfolding of the story is available to anyone willing to read the manga, we understand that not everyone has the time, patience, or desire to do so. Therefore, we have minimized spoilers or left them very vague. That said, let's go!

Many characters still have loose ends and unexplained things in their stories. We would like to see the series resolve these gaps and tell more about the motivations and past of certain characters, especially the Hashiras.

Yoriichi, Tanjiro, and the Marks

Starting with the most important and least explained so far: what is the connection between Tanjiro and the first user of Sun Breathing? What exactly do the marks do, and is there a price for using them? Additionally, we would love to learn more about Yoriichi's past and his connection to Upper Moon 1. Are Upper Moon 1 and the creator of Sun Breathing the same person? What is the connection with Tanjiro's father? These are some questions we would like the Infinity Castle arc to address.

From the beginning, Tanjiro's marks have been an intriguing mystery. They seem to grant him extraordinary abilities, but the true origin and purpose of these marks are still unknow. The figure of the legendary swordsman who developed Sun Breathing, is deeply connected to them. Yoriichi is a tragic and heroic figure whose life was marked by relentless battles against demons. His relationship with Upper Moon 1, who also bears a similar mark, is of great interest to us.

Siblings and Family

We also need to see the resolution of the relationship between Sanemi and Genya; the two brothers have yet to complete their arcs, and it would be great to see a reconciliation between them. Sanemi, the Wind Hashira, and Genya, a young demon slayer with the unique ability to consume demon flesh to gain their powers temporarily, have a tumultuous relationship. Since childhood, they were separated by family tragedies, and their journey of reconciliation is a significant emotional point in the series.

Additionally, we are eager to know more about Shinobu and her sister Kanae, who mysteriously died at the hands of a demon. Kanae Kocho, the previous Flower Hashira, was a maternal figure for Shinobu and Kanao. Her death at the hands of a demon left an emotional scar on Shinobu, motivating her to seek revenge and close her feelings.

And finally, what is the relationship between Inosuke and the woman who threw him into the river? We briefly see in a flashback that the woman carrying Inosuke (probably his mother) was being pursued by something, probably a demon, and it would be a shame not to discover what happened to her. What led him to be raised by boars in the forest? Discovering more about his possible mother and the circumstances that led to their separation would be crucial to completing Inosuke's development arc.

This section will have small spoilers about who will fight whom, but nothing too significant.

Giyuu and Tanjiro vs. Upper Moon 3

This fight promises to be intense and emotional. Giyuu, a fan favorite with his calm demeanor and impeccable technique, and Tanjiro, with his unwavering determination and growing abilities, will face Akaza, one of the most powerful demons and the pinnacle of martial arts. Will Tanjiro and Giyuu be able to defeat Rengoku's killer? We hope to see significant development in both slayers' abilities and a satisfying resolution to this confrontation, such as Tanjiro cutting off Akaza's head with Rengoku's hilt.

Inosuke, Shinobu, and Kanao vs. Upper Moon 2

Without delving too much into spoilers, this fight is extremely, or will become, personal for all involved. Douma is one of the most cruel demons in the series, both with his victims and his opponents. Considering this is the weakest lineup of fighters presented in the movies, we want to know what tricks Shinobu has up her sleeve to defeat Douma.

Sanemi, Genya, Tokito, and Gyomei vs. Upper Moon 1

The fight against Upper Moon 1 will be one of the highlights of the final stretch, and will probably occur only in the last film. Sanemi and Genya will likely have to work together to achieve anything in this fight. Another interesting point is that we will have the most powerful Upper Moon against the strongest slayer. Finally, we will really see what Gyomei is capable of. This confrontation will not only test their abilities, but also the determination of all the humans present. Upper Moon 1 is far, far from being an easy opponent.

There are other themes we would like to see explored in the film, such as Zenitsu's seriousness and the content of the letter he received. Zenitsu Agatsuma, despite his fearful and humorous nature, has incredible potential that is rarely explored. The letter may unveil mysteries of his past or new challenges to be overcome. Additionally, we look forward to the spectacular animation typical of the anime, especially with all the dynamics this scenario promises.

The Infinity Castle arc promises to be an exciting journey, with epic battles and the conclusion of various character arcs we've come to adore and others we don't yet know well (I'm looking at you, Zenitsu). We are eager to see how Ufotable will adapt these decisive moments and finalize the characters' arcs.

As usual, Kimetsu no Yaiba will offer a unique blend of action, emotion, and character complexity. We are on the brink of the story's climax, and each film brings us closer to an ending that promises to be memorable. Let the Infinity Castle and its magnificent conclusion come!
