Park Hyung-sik

Park Hyung-sik is a South Korean singer and actor born on November 16, 1991. He first became known as a member of the idol group ZE:A, which debuted in 2010 with the single album Nativity. Within the group, he was one of the vocalists, but television appearances helped establish him with a wider public. In 2013, he appeared on the military-themed variety program Real Men, where his earnest reactions and polite image made him particularly recognizable. His acting career developed through supporting roles before he moved into leading parts. He appeared in the 2012 drama Nine: Nine Time Travels and played a young version of the protagonist’s brother. In 2013’s The Heirs, he portrayed Jo Myung-soo, a cheerful student and close friend of Lee Min-ho’s character. He later joined the historical drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth in 2016 as Sam Maek-jong, a young king living in disguise while navigating palace politics and the warrior elite. Park’s first major romantic-comedy breakthrough came with Strong Woman Do Bong-soon in 2017. He played Ahn Min-hyuk, the eccentric chief executive of the game company Ainsoft, opposite Park Bo-young’s supernaturally strong heroine. The series became one of the most successful Korean cable dramas of its time and remains closely associated with him. In 2018, he led the Korean adaptation of the American legal drama Suits, playing ambitious rookie lawyer Go Yeon-woo, a role derived from Mike Ross in the original series. After beginning his mandatory military service on June 10, 2019, Park served in the Republic of Korea Navy’s military police unit. He was discharged on January 4, 2021. His first television drama after service was Happiness, released in 2021. In the thriller, he played detective Jung Yi-hyun, who becomes entangled in an apartment-complex quarantine crisis caused by an infectious disease outbreak. Han Hyo-joo co-starred as Yoon Sae-bom, his longtime friend and contractual wife. Park reunited with Han So-hee in the 2022 music drama Soundtrack #1, portraying photographer Han Sun-woo, who has quietly loved lyricist Seo Eun-soo for years. In 2023, he starred in the historical mystery romance Our Blooming Youth as Crown Prince Lee Hwan, whose life is complicated by a mysterious letter accusing him of wrongdoing. In Doctor Slump, released in 2024, he played Yeo Jeong-woo, a successful plastic surgeon whose career collapses after a medical incident. The drama paired him with Park Shin-hye as two former academic rivals confronting professional burnout and depression.
