Orb of Dreams is particularly beneficial in control or stax decks, where slowing down opponents' permanents can create a significant advantage by limiting their options and tempo. It synergizes well with cards that capitalize on opponents' tapped creatures or those that can exploit the delayed entry of permanents, such as Winter Orb or Smokestack. However, there are arguably better options like Tangle Wire, which not only taps down permanents but also has a more immediate impact on the board state. While Orb of Dreams can see play in niche strategies, its effectiveness may be overshadowed by more powerful alternatives that provide similar or greater disruption.
