About Impetuous Protege

Impetuous Protege, Creature — human warrior, designed by Jakub Kasper first released in Jun, 2018 in the set Battlebond and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Impetuous Protege would be well-suited for a red aggressive deck looking to take advantage of opponents' powerful creatures. Its ability to grow in power based on the strongest tapped creature the opponents control can quickly turn the tide in your favor during combat. However, there are potentially better cards available depending on the deck's strategy, such as Questing Beast for immediate impact or Ghalta, Primal Hunger for a more consistent power boost. Overall, Impetuous Protege could be a valuable addition to the right deck but may not see widespread play due to the availability of stronger alternatives.

Rules

06/08/18

A nonlegendary creature can’t be your commander, even if it has a “partner with” ability.

06/08/18

The value of X is determined only as Impetuous Protege’s last ability resolves. Once that happens, the value of X won’t change later in the turn even if the greatest power among your opponents’ tapped creatures changes.

06/08/18

“Partner with [name]” represents two abilities. The first is a triggered ability: “When this permanent enters the battlefield, target player may search their library for a card named [name], reveal it, put it into their hand, then shuffle their library.”
