Hythonia the Cruel, Legendary creature — gorgon, designed by Chris Rahn first released in May, 2020 in the set Theros.
This card, Hythonia the Cruel, would be a great addition to a control or midrange deck that focuses on board control and removal. It can serve as a powerful board wipe against non-Gorgon creatures once it becomes monstrous, providing a strong advantage in the late game. However, in competitive Magic: the Gathering, there are more efficient board wipe options available such as Damnation or Toxic Deluge, which may be preferred over Hythonia the Cruel in most cases.

An ability that triggers when a creature becomes monstrous won’t trigger if that creature isn’t on the battlefield when its monstrosity ability resolves.

Once a creature becomes monstrous, it can’t become monstrous again. If the creature is already monstrous when the monstrosity ability resolves, nothing happens.
