About Entangling Trap

Entangling Trap, Enchantment, designed by Warren Mahy first released in Oct, 2007 in the set Lorwyn.

Entangling Trap would fit well in a control or tempo deck that aims to disrupt opponents while maintaining board presence, particularly in formats where clashing is viable. It can effectively hinder aggressive strategies by preventing key creatures from untapping, allowing for strategic attacks or defenses. However, there are arguably stronger options, such as Oblivion Ring or Detention Sphere, which provide more versatile removal without relying on the clash mechanic. While Entangling Trap can be fun and synergistic in casual play, its reliance on clash may limit its competitiveness in more serious formats, suggesting it should be used selectively rather than as a staple.

Rules

09/20/13

If you clash because of a spell or ability an opponent controls, the ability will still trigger. Likewise, you can still win the clash even if you weren’t the player to initiate it.
