About Allied Strategies

Allied Strategies, Sorcery, designed by Paolo Parente first released in Feb, 2001 in the set Planeshift and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck that focuses on controlling multiple basic land types would benefit from including Allied Strategies, as it allows for significant card draw potential. However, the card may be situational and may not always provide the most efficient card advantage compared to other options like Fact or Fiction or Treasure Cruise, which offer more consistent card draw. While Allied Strategies could see play in certain niche decks, it may not be a staple in most competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.

Rules

03/19/21

The basic land types are Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest. Land types other than basic land types (such as Desert) don’t contribute to domain abilities.

02/01/09

How many lands you control of a particular basic land type is irrelevant to a domain ability, as long as that number is greater than zero. As far as domain is concerned, ten Forests is the same as one Forest.

10/04/04

You draw one card per basic land type, not for each basic land. This makes it a maximum of 5 cards.
