Vin Diesel revealed that he was deeply moved after reading the screenplay for Fast Forever, the 11th film in the Fast & Furious franchise. In an Instagram post, the actor said Michael Lesslie's text is [m]“the best screenplay I've read in decades”] and said he was still crying after reading it.The message accompanied the announcement of the re-release of The Fast and the Furious, the first feature film in the series, which returns to theaters on August 21 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. For Diesel, revisiting the beginning of the story on the big screen will be important before the arrival of the next chapter.“When March 17, 2028 arrives... you will thank God that you watched the first one in theaters this summer,” wrote the actor who plays Dominic Toretto.Fast Forever follows Fast X, released in 2023 and directed by Louis Leterrier. The sequel had been expected for spring 2025, but was postponed. In February 2024, Diesel announced that the new film would serve as the conclusion of the main saga.The actor has also hinted that the farewell will bring back core elements of the franchise, such as car culture and street racing. During an appearance at FuelFest, an event organized by Cody Walker, Paul Walker's brother, Diesel also mentioned a reunion between Dom and Brian O’Conner, the character played by Walker.Paul Walker died in a car accident in November 2013 at the age of 40. At the time, Furious 7 was still in production, and his remaining scenes were completed with CGI, archival footage, and the participation of his brothers Caleb and Cody as stand-ins.With more than US$7 billion grossed worldwide, the franchise will also have a TV series in development at Peacock.
