The Brazilian film London won the Queer Lion at the 83rd Venice Film Festival on Friday (11). The film, directed by Victor Di Marco and Marcio Picoli, was selected from among 12 entries competing for the award, which is presented in a parallel section alongside the festival’s main prize.Images released after the ceremony show the two filmmakers holding the trophy alongside Laura Moglia, one of the feature’s producers.Victor Di Marco plays London, a disabled young man who works performing erotic acts at a fetish club. The story takes a turn when the character discovers, through a medical examination, the origin and fate of his disability.Shot in Porto Alegre, the film was produced by Proa & Popa Produções and Balde de Tinta. Retrato Filmes will distribute London in Brazil.The trailer reflects the film’s premise, introducing its central character as he navigates the experiences that shape his story.Despite its victory in Venice, London still has no confirmed release date for a commercial theatrical run. The Brazilian release remains unannounced by its distributor.
