About True-Name Nemesis

True-Name Nemesis, Creature — merfolk rogue, designed by Howard Lyon first released in Jun, 2002 in the set Magic Online Promos and was printed exactly in 6 different ways. It see play in 2 formats: Commander and Duel Commander.

A deck focused on aggressive strategies or protecting key creatures would benefit from including True-Name Nemesis, as it can provide a powerful and difficult-to-answer threat that is immune to removal from a chosen opponent. However, in certain metagames or matchups where protection from a single player may not be as impactful, other cards like Stoneforge Mystic or Snapcaster Mage could offer more versatility and value. Overall, True-Name Nemesis can be a strong inclusion in the right deck, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the specific circumstances of the game.

Rules

03/19/21

Protection from a player means that True-Name Nemesis has protection from each object controlled by that player. If an object has no controller (such as a card in a graveyard), its owner is considered its controller for this purpose.

10/17/13

Protection from a player is a new variant of the protection ability. It means the following: — True-Name Nemesis can’t be the target of spells or abilities controlled by the chosen player. — True-Name Nemesis can’t be enchanted by Auras or equipped by Equipment controlled by the chosen player. (The same is true for Fortifications controlled by the chosen player, if True-Name Nemesis becomes a land.) — True-Name Nemesis can’t be blocked by creatures controlled by the chosen player. — All damage that would be dealt to True-Name Nemesis by sources controlled by the chosen player is prevented. (The same is true for sources owned by the chosen player that don’t have controllers.)
