David Zayas will return for Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection as detective Angel Batista. The new season is being developed by Paramount+, and the actor’s return comes as a surprise because the character did not survive the events of the first season.

Despite his return, Angel Batista will not be “resurrected” in the story. His appearance could take the form of a cameo, hallucination or flashback, devices the series has used before.

The upcoming season will follow Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall, as he finds himself caught between two killers. One is notorious; the other terrorizes New York in ways no one could have imagined. At the same time, Dexter will face a midlife crisis described as his greatest enemy yet.

Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, will continue his own quest for justice. The story will also show father and son confronting the darkest chapter of their lives.

The complete first season of Dexter: Resurrection is now available to subscribers of the streaming platform. Alongside Michael C. Hall, the cast includes returning stars Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington, Krysten Ritter and James Remar.

The second season will also feature new cast members. Brian Cox, Dan Stevens, Bokeem Woodbine, Nona Parker Johnson and Gabriel Luna are among the additions announced for the series.
