Vile Consumption could be beneficial in a control deck that aims to stall the game and drain the opponent's resources. However, there are more efficient cards like The Abyss or Moat that provide similar effects without the drawback of losing life. Vile Consumption may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to its high mana cost and potential downside, but it could be fun to experiment with in casual or themed decks.
