About Turn Against

Turn Against, Instant, designed by Chris Rallis first released in Oct, 2015 in the set Battle for Zendikar.

Turn Against can be particularly effective in a Red Aggro or Midrange deck that seeks to capitalize on stealing and utilizing an opponent's creature for a surprise attack, especially if the deck includes ways to generate additional value from the stolen creature, such as sacrificing it or using it to trigger other effects. While there are other cards like Act of Treason or Threaten that serve a similar purpose and may be more efficient for their cost, Turn Against's Devoid mechanic allows it to fit into colorless-themed decks or those utilizing the colorless mana strategy. Overall, it could see play in niche scenarios, but its effectiveness may be limited compared to more streamlined options in competitive formats.

Cards with devoid use frames that are variations of the transparent frame traditionally used for Eldrazi. The top part of the card features some color over a background based on the texture of the hedrons that once imprisoned the Eldrazi. This coloration is intended to aid deckbuilding and game play.

If a card loses devoid, it will still be colorless. This is because effects that change an object’s color (like the one created by devoid) are considered before the object loses devoid.

Other cards and abilities can give a card with devoid color. If that happens, it’s just the new color, not that color and colorless.

Turn Against can target any creature, even one that’s untapped or one you already control.
